Only controller that's driving system SATA disk is enabled, rest are disabled.
Pins grounded, 5 secs after powering PC pins ground removed, BIOS doesn't find this drive during IDE detecting on POST screen.

On WDMarvel selecting proper controller, all indicators on the left are off, on the right there is AMNF lighting.
After pressing Define button get error
Устройство не подняло флаг DRQ
Накопитель не определен
DRQ lights, AMNF is off, name / S/N / FW ver / family fields are empty

Trying this thousand times - always the same.
Trying on WinXP installed on IDE, but all indicator lights.

Very strange
Can be you connect it on one controller with the system drive?

Damn, I messed up with SATA ports... :( Information in previous post are not correct. Apologies.

In few minutes I'll post correct info with pics.

Blocked drive on disabled controller (with and without grounding pins it looks the same):

Blocked drive on disabled controller after pressing Define button (with and without grounding pins it looks the same):

Both drives connected to same controller:

Looks like after the grounding pin, you reboot the computer, and the BIOS disable the controller without drive
Do you reboot?

The order of my operations is:
1. plugging WD
2. turning on PC and booting win7
3. disabling controller
4. turning off PC
5. removing WD
6. grounding pins
7. plugging WD
8. turning on PC
9. disgrounding pins before or after (trying both) IDE detecting during POST (BIOS detects "Chanel 3 Master: None" - there is WD connected)
10. letting win7 boot

Is this correct? Maybe it's stupid, but I must ask... Maybe by saying "turn off" you mean not turning off PC but HDD only by e.g. PC3k, ATA commands or another magic stuff?

I mean turn off only HDD
1 Connect drive to different controller
You should get this state:
Image
2 Disconnect power cable from drive
Do not turn off nothing else
3 Ground pins
4 Connect power cable to drive
5 Wait 5 sec, DSK and RDY should become gray
6 Disconnect pins from ground

Damn, I can't do that!

Sometimes windows needs to be restarted to disable controller and sometimes not, but disabling it (when it doesn't need rebooting) causes this state

In Device Manager, instead, the controller, try disable the drive itself
If it detected by windows
