You should to disable only channel with the problem HDD, not for system drive channel

Okay on my end, in Device Manager, without the eSATA adapter and any HDD connected, under IDE/ATAPI controllers, I see 2 "ATA Channel 0", an "Intel(R) 82801G (ICH7 Family) Ultra ATA Storage Controllers - 27DF", and a "Standard AHCI1.0 Serial ATA Controller". Under Disk drives, I see only "FUJITSU MHW2080BH PL ATA Device". With the adapter and problem HDD (WD drive; WD10EAVS-00D7B0) connected, Disk drives and IDE/ATAPI controllers remains the same. However, there is the addition of Storage controllers which contains "JMicron JMB36X Controller".

When I connect a secondary functional HDD (a HITACHI HTS547575A9E384) instead, Disk drives now also contain the "HITACHI HTS547575A9E384 SCSI Disk Device". IDE/ATAPI controllers and Storage controllers however remains the same.

So when the problem HDD is connected, which one should I disable? Or how should I disable the channels only for the problem HDD? Do you need screenshot(s)? I currently cannot upload the screenshot(s).

I just repaired the adapter and disabled the relevant channels. I then re-plugged in the problem HDD and launched WDMarvel demo. However, WDMarvel still doesn't recognize the HDD. Is there something I'm missing or what should I do for the software to recognize the HDD.

Can you show your problem with AnyDesc or something else?

So I downloaded AnyDesk. What should I do next so you can see what's going on with the hard drive? Also, what time are you available?

Unsure if WDMarvel can't read the modules in the SA or something in the SA for ROM rebuild has problems

Post by elevtechlift »

I'm not sure what's happening but WDMarvel isn't able to read my WD10EAVS HDD's SA modules. This is what I currently see:

Code: Select all

12/3/2020 9:23:25 PM: Reading modules...
12/3/2020 9:23:26 PM: Error reading module ID109, state - 3743
12/3/2020 9:23:26 PM: Error reading module ID102, state - 3743
12/3/2020 9:23:26 PM: Error reading module ID103, state - 3743
12/3/2020 9:23:26 PM: Error reading module ID104, state - 3743
12/3/2020 9:23:26 PM: Error reading module ID105, state - 3743
12/3/2020 9:23:26 PM: Error reading module ID106, state - 3743
12/3/2020 9:23:26 PM: Error reading module ID107, state - 3743
12/3/2020 9:23:26 PM: Successfully read 0 modules
When I check out "Modules operations" under "S/A operations", this is what I see in the logs when I performed "Check all modules" under "Modules":

Code: Select all

12/3/2020 9:33:00 PM: Error reading module Dir, state - SERVO_ERROR_CODE_BASE_SvirActSync
12/3/2020 9:36:32 PM: Looking for modules, found 7
12/3/2020 9:36:32 PM: Checking modules ...
12/3/2020 9:36:33 PM: Successfully checked 7 modules
12/3/2020 9:36:45 PM: Reading modules...
12/3/2020 9:36:46 PM: Successfully read 7 modules
I wonder if there are other ways to read the SA modules or I should rebuild the SA modules. If I have to rebuild the SA modules, how should I do it (aside from obtaining full version of the software)? Should I read the ROM modules and write them to the SA or should I download from HDDGURU or equivalent site and rebuild both ROM and SA modules? I came across this collection of firmwares on HDDGURU.

I wonder what happened to Vlad's response to my post. I don't see it anymore and is there anyone that can help me on what to do in this situation?
