Thank you. The size of this module is 87705
But WDMarvel can't write modules bigger than 65535

Always says: Invalid Buffer Size

Hi, how did you remove SED lock on this drive?
I have a WD60EZRZ (Rembrandt) too, which is SED locked.
FW: 01.84F

No module access, ROM access only if I isolate head contacts.

Wenn I try Restart FW and block loading FW:
Error initializing module ID01, state - FM_ERR_HEADER_II_SIGNATURE_INVALID

Block loading FW by changing ROM image:
Can not detect the active region map...

update

Ok I found out, I did Restart FW and block loading FW with load overlays. I used overlays from a 6TB WD Red WD60EFRX with similar firmware.
Then I had module access and removed Self-Encrypting Drive in config.

I said you, SERVO_ERROR_CODE_BASE_SvirActSync means that HDA most probably is dead
Disable all heads in Head map editor except 0
Restart drive
Try to read Modules
If still SERVO_ERROR_CODE_BASE_SvirActSync, then disable head 0 and enable head 1
Try to read modules on head 1
Test all heads in this way
If all heads gives SERVO_ERROR_CODE_BASE_SvirActSync, put drive in the trash, it is not repairable
I bought a 1-month Plus license. I noticed Heads 0 and 1 produced the following error message:

Error reading module Dir, state - SERVO_ERROR_CODE_BASE_SvirLatchHang

Heads 2 through 7 did produce SERVO_ERROR_CODE_BASE_SvirActSync. So what does SERVO_ERROR_CODE_BASE_SvirLatchHang mean? Is there still a chance for the problem HDD to be recoverable in its current state?

I see… I’ll retest the heads again.

After testing each head again three times, I noticed each head either produced SERVO_ERROR_CODE_BASE_SvirActSync or SERVO_ERROR_CODE_BASE_SvirLatchHang. Does this still mean the HDD is irreparable because of the HDD's head is dead unless I open the HDD and replace the head or take the HDD to a professional HDD specialist? Or is there still a chance for repairing HDD without having to open it nor take it to a specialist?

Spindown time - WD40EZAZ-00SF3B0 (VENICE_R)

Post by locarno »

Hello
Is there a way to change spindown time on WD40EZAZ HDD? I want to set spindown time to very short. I wonder if this can be done with WDMarvel?
